Where did the idea and vision for 9 to 5 for Christ come
from? God, of course!
In the mid-1990’s, Laura McGrew was living in the Bay
Area when she felt called to start a ministry to
Christian working women. With the help of a friend, they
attempted to reach women in the ultra-busy Bay Area. The
group got a slow start and eventually fizzled out.
Although the group stopped meeting, Laura’s vision and
passion for this type of ministry never died. A few
years later in Fresno, California, Laura could see God
opening doors to try again. The difference was that now
the timing, environment, church support, and God’s hand
of blessing were finally all in place. Laura followed
His lead and in March 2003, the first meeting of 9 to 5
for Christ was held as an outreach of Northside
Christian Church’s women’s ministry. In March 2005, 9 to
5 for Christ launched out and formed their own existence
to open the pathway for many more churches to be
involved in this exciting work.
Since then, the group continues to grow and expand,
offering more services and meeting the practical and
spiritual needs of women throughout the area. Each
month, women are touched and impacted by the love,
support, and inspiration they receive from the speakers
and the other ladies.
If you are in the Central Valley, won’t you join us for
our next meeting? And if you are out of this area,
contact us to find our how you can start a chapter in
your area. You will be glad you did!
